Apple News: Previewing OS X 10.9: What can we expect from Apple’s next operating system?
The cat is almost out of the bag. Or rather, the big cat has almost toppled the Apple cart? Analogies aside, the next iteration of Apple’s desktop operating system, OS X, is due around July, and the developer’s preview of the software should be released in the next few weeks. That time estimate is based on Apple’s release schedule for Mountain Lion, which was released to the public in July of last year. The developer preview of Mountain Lion debuted in February 2012.

Technology News: From idea to science: Knowing when you’ve got a good idea
One of the great untold stories in science is the process of science itself. I don’t mean stories about what scientists have discovered and what that discovery tells us; we (and many others) cover those every day. I also don’t mean stories about the pure joy of discovery and the excitement of finding out that everything you thought you understood was total bollocks. We cover that here at Ars occasionally, and there are plenty of books on it if you’re hungry for more. What’s missing is the background for these stories of discovery.

Programming News: My Take on CoffeeScript
I discovered CoffeeScript when it first came out. I thought it was just a bunch of syntactic sugar for brackets (braces and parentheses) haters. Back then, I did not write that much JavasScript and I do not hate brackets. Therefore I decided that I would not pick it up. However, when I wrote more and more JavaScript, I was finally fed up with its verbosity and I decided to give CoffeeScript a try.

Light is one of the fundamentals of great travel photography. Shooting with available light is something every aspiring photographer should strive to master, or at least understand. That doesn’t meant that every situation is easy. Actually, shooting with available light can be very tricky. Low light levels, bad quality of light, its color and shape, all of these are challenges that we must face while shooting and traveling. Shooting with available light allows for a natural connection with your subjects and allows you to capture something that is truly in the moment.
